Speed & Quality

The HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw is a versatile color laser printer that offers a wide range of features and outperforms its price and the competitors within its price range. The two main strengths of this printer are its speed and print quality. 

Most comparable printers fail to deliver on both speed and print quality, and the M252dw definitely does. Within this price range, there is no other printer that matches up in both speed and print quality.

Limitations

Having said this, the M252dw does have its limitations. A 150-sheet paper tray leaves a lot to be desired and relegates its fit to personal, household, and micro office settings. 

With a duty cycle of 30,000 pages per month and a recommended monthly page volume of 250 to 2,500, it is able to handle relatively heavy output within these settings but would struggle to maintain print quality within a regular office setting with more users and consistent heavy output.

Fast Speed

The HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw features impressive speed at 19 ppm for both monochrome and color printing, as well as first page out speeds of 11.5 seconds for monochrome printing and 13 seconds for color printing. 

For a color laser printer in the price range of the HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw, these speeds are notable.

High-Quality Print

The HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw uses HP 201A toners, including black (CF400A), cyan (CF401A), magenta (CF403A), and yellow (CF402A). 

The HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw delivers exceptionally high quality for both black and color text and images.

Minimal Noise

While the HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw is able to handle impressive usage rates for its price, that output potential does not correlate to a high level of noise, as it does with many other laser printers. 

It is a very quiet printer that will not cause any auditory disruption to a personal, household, or office setting, which is somewhat of a rarity among laser printers despite advancing printing technology.

Sleek Design

The HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw looks good. It features a sleek design that is more aesthetically pleasing than comparable printers on the market such as the Dell C1760nw and  Brother HL-3170CW. Look good, play good- this printer does both.

150-Sheet Paper Tray

The 150-sheet paper tray of the HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw is disappointing. A 250-sheet paper tray would have been a nice addition to this model, as 150 pages is a relatively low paper capacity for a printer in this price range.

LCD Screen Size Reduction

The LCD screen on the HP Color LaserJet Pro M252 has been reduced to 3" from the 3-1/2" from last year's model. If you are upgrading, you are looking at a slight LCD screen size reduction.
